Training for External Professionals

We offer a wide range of training and development for professionals, paid carers, school and college staff, as well as parents and carers of children and adults with autism and behaviour that challenges. 

Our training is delivered by outstanding practitioners who specialise in autism and challenging behaviour and communication. Through our courses, we want you to gain practical knowledge, skills and techniques that can be used in a variety of settings and are relevant to people with a range of needs
Courses on offer:

Introduction to Autism – Tier 1 3 hours

What prior knowledge or experience is needed?
No prior knowledge or experience is required

Summary:
Designed for everyone who might benefit from an understanding of the autism spectrum, including parents, front line care staff, professionals and anyone who has contact with individuals on the spectrum. An introduction to autism, this course will give participants a strong foundation of understanding of the autism spectrum, and how it affects the individuals they support.

• Your venue: £350 up to 16 participants*

Supporting Individuals on the Autism Spectrum – tier 2 7 Hours

What prior knowledge or experience is needed?
Some prior knowledge or experience is required, this training is designed to build on existing skills and understanding.

Summary:
A level 2 course, designed for everyone who might benefit from an understanding of the autism spectrum, including parents, front line care staff, professionals and anyone who has contact with individuals on the spectrum. An introduction to supporting individuals on the autism spectrum, this course will give participants a strong foundation of understanding of the autism spectrum, and how it affects the individuals they support. This course develops an understanding of autism, communication tools, an introduction to behavioural support and sensory differences.

Autism and Challenging Behaviour- an Introduction to Positive Support Strategies – tier 2 7 hours

What prior knowledge or experience is needed?
Some prior knowledge or experience is required, this training is designed to build on existing skills and understanding.

Summary:
A level 2 course, designed for everyone who might work with individuals’ whose behaviour challenges, including parents, front line care staff and professionals. An introduction to Positive Behaviour Support theory, and the development of support strategies. This course will give participants a strong foundation of understanding of the causes and functions of challenging behaviour, and equip them with the necessary skills to successfully support individuals whose behaviour challenges.

Communication in Autism – tier 1 3 hours

What prior knowledge or experience is needed?
No prior knowledge or experience is required

Summary:
Designed for everyone who might benefit from an understanding of the communication of people on the autism spectrum, including parents, front line care staff, professionals and anyone who has contact with individuals on the spectrum.
This foundation course includes details about different methods of communication and barriers that people in the autism spectrum might encounter when communicating. To finalize we will explore different communication systems which might help people to increase their receptive and expressive skills.

Understanding and utilizing Communication Strategies in Autism – tier 2 7 hours

What prior knowledge or experience is needed?
Some prior knowledge or experience is required, this training is designed to build on existing skills and understanding.

Summary:
An externally accredited level 2 course, designed for everyone who might benefit from an understanding of the communication of people on the autism spectrum, including parents, front line care staff, professionals and anyone who has contact with individuals on the spectrum.

This advance course focuses on understanding communication and on equipping the participants to develop visual aids to facilitate communication of people in the autism spectrum.

*Travel is included within the greater London area, any additional travel will incur a 50 pence per mile fee, unsociable hours’ fee may apply for weekend courses.
