The Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) is a form of augmentative and alternative communication produced by Pyramid Educational Consultants, Inc.

PECS is designed to teach functional communication skills with a focus on spontaneous communication, so individuals can express their wants and needs.

PECS seems to be a great tool to prevent and reduce inappropriate behaviours. After identifying the function of each behaviour, PECS will provide a functional equivalent alternative behaviour.

At Salisbury Support 4 Autism, all staff members are trained on PECS, which facilitates communication with non-verbal clients as well as creating a bridge to interact with people with autism.

If you would like to find out more about our PECS training programme, please call 0800 368 9433 or email to info@SS4Autism.com.
